As we wait we are filling our time. Nothing worse than sitting still waiting for a durn phone call.
Yesterday we went to a park. With an open playground. The first open playground since March. For those of you who don't know what month it is, it's AUGUST. 6 months. There were 2 other families there and Josiah quickly made a friend and they played together.
A group of new moms gathered a short distance away. Their first outing with their new infants in 4 months. They chatted about how awkward it is with all the stuff, getting in and out of the car. New babies will really throw you for a loop.
People walked and rode bikes, some with masks some with out. But no judgement or shaming either way. No mask debating.
We saw ducks. And pelicans. And tried to find alligators.
There were lots of signs about not molesting alligators. Don't feed or molest the alligators. I'm certainly not going to feed them. Any food I have is for me. In addition I didn't realize they were such victims of molestations that you had to put up a sign.
Sorry. Bad joke. I just think the sign should say something simple. Maybe "Alligators will kill you. Leave them alone." "Only idiots feed and irritate the alligators." "I don't care if you think you can wrestle one, Alligators hate wrestling."
Later we went swimming in the bay. I cut my finger on a conch shell. It wasn't bad but the bleeding was ridiculous. The water hurt it, it got sand in it. In order to get back in the car we have to shower off at the bath house. The shower was already in use by a local homeless man who was getting zestfully clean and being very diligent to not miss a spot. Josiah did not point at the goiter on his back or ask questions and that is something I am very thankful for.
Today we are going to a wildlife park. We hope to see armadillos, gopher tortoises, alligators, and some crazy birds. I'm very fascinated with the wildlife here. There are lizards everywhere. I found a small one in the bathroom today. EVERYWHERE. They are more prolific than ants. They regularly get stomped by runners.
It's nice to be in one spot. Josiah still wants his bed at night but it's getting better.
In the background of keeping ourselves busy is the ever present, what's next? It's not stressful or anxety provoking, or scary. It just is. It's just simply,
What's next?
